Hi boys, I'm back with another task & question. I have a 51 1 ton panel. I would like to swap my 216 with a chevy small block; (V8), but I want to keep the stock 4 speed transmission. What will I need to pair up the small block to the transmission.
Thanks in advance boys for all the great info past, present & future.

Is your '51 titled using the 216's engine number as the VIN on the title?

I believe you just need the next generation truck V8 to standard trans bellhousing, 55 to ? You can swap in the 54 crossmember that has the motor mounts you need. I know there are kits for the V8 side mounts. Check all the truck vendors ie. Chevs of 40s, Jim Carter etc. The other issue is clearance re. steering box. Some I've heard have moved the box outboard and or use special exhaust manifold. I'm sure others will be along to chime in on this.
Best of luck
