was it late 36 or 37 when steel replaced wood inthe dash support and the door pillar post on the cab? this is in reference to pu and truck cabs(low cab design) can the later version steel be used in the repair of a 36 cab that had wood originally? does any one make a kit to do this? answers to [email protected]

The 37 pickup was the first year for ALL metal. I believer the low cab 36 and the 37 do share a couple things but not sure what.

There is a guy who sells wood kits but can't remember his name. I think he has a web site....KC Wood or something like that. Others may chime in.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

35 & first half of 36 cabs were tall with a flat back & top and had a lot of wood inside. They had 3 hinges for the door. The last half 36 had a rounded top, 2 hinges and only 3 pieces of wood -- apiece behind the dash and one in each "A" pillar. I'm not familiar with the 37 but have heard there are differences--
KC Wood has wood kits( all precut and drilled). Pertty expensive but it will take a LOT of work to make your own.
Good luck.

No wood in the 37 cab and, even though the 37 cab looks like a 36 2nd cab in design and style, they are not the same as there are subtile differences between them.
