That ^ was last weekend's project, Now We begin cab and sheetmetal repair... I made an excel list of things to be done and I put that body work should take around 1,000,000 hours to complete so I will see you guys again in 114 Years. =)

Removed the passenger side fender and took lots of pictures in preparation of removing everything out of the cab and off the fire wall. I'll be taking the cab of the 48 two ton to fix rot and get a good coat of paint on it this year.
Looks like the only metal to cut out on the cab are the lower section of the cowls and patch up some areas a previous owner cut out pieces for who knows what.

I received my teeny tiny one wire grommets from Steele Rubber today. Tomorrow I'll stick one in the 1/4" hole in the firewall where the Tach to HEI wire and ground will be routed. Still waiting for help to put the right side running board on, perhaps tomorrow.

New turn signal switch, flasher, and wiring. It's nice to keep the arm in the cab and let the truck do the signalling!

Finally got the right side running board on. Now for the hood, grill, rad support, gravel shield, front & rear Bumpers, carpet and headliner,bedrails, and exhaust. Yeah Cletis, almost there.

Looks like you are doing really good work on your truck Jim. You're getting' there! Clean looking, and I really like that color.

Removed bumpers and brackets, All lights, bed boards and strips,and tail gate. Will attack the sheet metal tomorrow. Yea I know I'm going the wrong way.

Well I put in a 18 hr day today and I must say it was time well spent. I got almost the entire truck disassembled by my self. Here is a before in the middle and after pict.

I added the header wrap to keep the heat down in the engine compartment. Before it was so hot you couldn’t touch anything under the hood. How everything is only slightly warm to the touch. What a big difference! I also added “shorty” plugs to get more clearance by the headers.

Rebuilt the carb and fuel pump this weekend. Wife is still pretty upset about the smell of carb cleaner in the house... my god, what a stench.

I added brake fluid and bled brakes today. After all this time I now have brakes on my rolling chassis. It was a great feeling seeing the brakes working after everything was completely disassembled and gone through. I only had one minor leak and tightening the brake line fixed that.

Replaced an oil pan with a stripped out drain plug. It was the oversized plug so I had no choice. Unfortunately I found out after I cleaned out all of the old sludge that my second oil pan had a hole. Thankfully I had a third.

IM restoring 2 1946 chevy canopy express trucks and got alot of fabrication done on the half ton today!

Changed the oil and filter on my 261, then installed the correct accelerator rod from the pedal to the bell crank. Now the throttle plates open up like they should. WOW, that 261 really woke up.

I have been using a home made rod and it wouldn't open the throttle plates like it should.

finally got the blinkers working on the '52... a dumb problem, but a nice one to fix.

I spent the afternoon disassembling the speedometer and checking the gauges in my 1946 1/2 Ton PU. Did not have to use decals as the original paint on my gauges are in great shape. I did completely go through the speedometer as per the Tech Tip by Jeff. It was almost like he was in the shop with me.

Drove mine for the first time on full air suspension,previously I had the rear end 'locked up' as I had no shocks.
Rides real nice,it even cleared the speed bumps in my street!
Can you say schmooove!
I do need to clear the huge flat spot when I accelerate though!

Today I will install the hood, grill, radiator support and gravel shield. If I have time I'll bleed the breaks and have the AC charged. I cranked it up out in the driveway on Saturday and let it idle up to 190 degrees. It was cold outside and I was checking the heater to see how (if) it worked. I turned on the blower and pulled the hot water cable all the way out. In just a few seconds the hot air came blowing out, and out, and out, and out! I could have fried an egg on it. I began to push the cable in until it was only 1/4" out before it cooled down to a comfortable temp. This heater was designed for you guys in the frozen north.

Removed the old master cylinder and brake lines. Time for a new master and lines!

Installed steering column with rebuilt gear box, feels like it tightened it up really well, even tho it's just sitting in the garage, not anywhere near the free play that it did have. Got the gas tank back in the cab, looks nice all clean a painted. Tonight the seat goes back in after the new upholstery job. Block should start getting parts put back on in the next day or so. Maybe a light at the end of the tunnel.

Removed gas tank and interior panels on the 38 in preperation to get some metal work done

Mounted the grill today. I had to move the horns and AC drier a bit to fit it in. Tomorrow I'll mount the rad support and the hood. I still need to bleed the brakes.

This past weekend pulled the heater out of the 46,cleaned, polished and tested the electric motor - works fine - pulled (broken)brake lines and formed new ones.

Big day today. From 8:50 to 5:30, with 30 minutes for lunch, I spent the time adjusting and mounting the grill and hood latch panel. I also bled the brakes and tighten up a couple of loose fittings. Two of my most proud accomplishments are my wiring and my brake plumbing. I will take the weekend off and stay married. lol. Monday I'll mount the hood and chrome pieces. Then I be heading for Rich's Performance Mufflers in Wiley for my stainless exhaust system.

Scored a pair of Toyo Proxes 225/45x18" front tyres (part worn) for the front end.
BTW are tyres the only thing that's measured in both metric and imperial at the same time?
I will use these initially 'till I get the alignment bang on,no point in scrubbing up new tyres if i get it wrong!
I'm getting them mounted today.
This will be the first time my truck has had all the 4 new wheels on!

Update....Here's a sneek peek I would've moved the truck out the garage for a better shot but I would have had to move a car and a van,plus it's too dang windy and cold today!

Finished welding frame rust spots yesterday its all set to head out for blasting. Started rear axle disasembly. Axles and all parts are in great shape. Looks like the lube was original was now a form of tar! What a great day!

Fought the transmission floor panel screws and got them out without breaking a single one of them. Also removed the emergency brake hand lever (two ton) and the emergency brake connecting rod from the handle to the back wheels. Cleaned up the handles for painting and will clean up the cover plate today. Can only work so long outside, it's in a portable and my hands freeze up.
Next I have to figure out how I am going to repair the rust on the lips of the fenders. Not too bad, but will require me making some patches.

Come on down here, It'll be 73 degrees tomorrow.
I finished up wiring my front LED park lamps today. Except for some tweaking that will about do it for my wiring, except for the power plug on my air compressor.

hey guys new to this post but will give you guys a rundown of what ive got done. so far i have the truck down to the bare frame. every nut, bolt, screw and some rivets are gone. ive been busy fillin in all those extra frame holes that are not needed in preperation for a total boxing job. today i finished that project so its clean up time on the frame. sanding and priming with etching primer to get ready for the frame shop on the first. thought i would make sure every thing is where its suppose to be before installing the mustang ii suspension. later mo

Gave the engine a run to keep everything lubed and turning,set the front end alignment to the best of my ability,I'll get it checked and set out by a pro though.(tyres are expensive!)
Finally bolted on my new front wheels ,they've been lying in their boxes for way too long!

Took the heater out of my 48. Could not find anything in the shop manual covering the heater. That top fire wall side screw has to be the most diffiult screw to get to even with the glove box out.

Cut the front frame horns off my '65. Building a front push style bumper.

Got the chassis pressure washed finally. It was nasty!
