For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 49 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 49 | The good news is I have a working radio model 986443 and I have the skill to rebuild it. The bad news is the PO ripped the lower mounting brackets off it. I can fabricate new ones and either weld or silver solder them on but I don't know the dimensions. I need to know their width, their height off the case, the distance of the hole's center from the edge of the case, the distance between the holes, and the distance of the hole centers from the sides of the case. Can anyone help? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | The distance between the holes corresponds to the distance of the holes in the bottom lip of the dash. I have my radios packed away right now but I believe on one of the models, there were two little brackets with tapped holes, spot welded to the bottom.
I have sent you an Email with some more information in a diagram. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | The Email which I sent to the address in your profile, failed to go through. Is the address still current?

You can also use [email protected]. I do know the holes line up with those in the dash and that would give me the distance between them. You are correct about the tapped sheet metal arms. That is what the DPO ripped off. I know what they look like as I have seen them on other radios and pictures. I just don't have the dimensions. Thanks for any help you can provide! My old eyes didn't distinguish the "R" so that is what happened. I think you will find it useful.
