What you have is a casting number, not a part number and casting numbers are not given in parts books. On yours the 6 could be a 5. In which case you have a SM318 GM trans with a BW R-10 overdrive. They have a 4 bolt side cover and a non syncro first gear. This trans was used from 55 through 65. There are some minor differences between cars and trucks. On the trucks the lower mount holes are threaded. There are also some differences on the side cover and the shift arms. There should be a date code below the casting number. Something like B 15 7 which would be Feb 15 1957. Fred
