Lugnutz, you made out like a champion today. Heck, maybe you should go into used parts business....buy and re-sell. Man, you saved a days pay!

Realigned the driver's door on my 57 GMC 100. Talk about chasing panel fitment... ended up taking hinges off and enlarging the adjustment holes. Fits great now!

Put the radio in the '53. If everything went as smooth as this, I would have been done this truck long ago.

Still working on mounting the bear claws. Got both latches & solenoids installed and the outside door handles removed and smoothed. Bought a set of Autoloc interior handles to install as well.

Then threw another armload of items into the vat!

I rebuilt the distributor, placed it back in the engine with new parts and wires. New plugs, fuel pump, radiator hoses, and battery leads. Primed the rocker arms and adjusted the valves. Then put new plugs in and started it up for the first time since the 70's or early 80's.

Lugnutz, it sure was! I got my boys to come out and watch. It struggled at first. The cylinders were full of oil, PB Blaster, and whatever was in there for 30 years. That and I forgot to lube up the throttle/choke cables as well as the gas pedal.

It will be awhile before its driven. It's wedged sideways in the front of the garage, tight to three walls. The rear wheels are locked up. So next is to put new wheel seals and rework the whole brake system. Then I'll feel comfortable taking it out for a shakedown!

At some point I'll upload a video to Youtube.

I'd hose it down with liquid wrench and then try an air chisel with the nail head looking tip. The vibration and impact should knock it loose.

Or do it like my grandpa used to.... squirt oil in it and drag it around the field with a tractor! That pretty much was his answer to everything. wink thumbs_up

In my case its not so much rust but grease and oil soaked pads that have stuck to the drums. I tried one and was able to back off the adjusters to get it move.

Painted the CHEVROLET script on the tailgate of my '65 Stepside using a high density foam roller and some satin white Rustoleum paint.

Came out pretty good.. good enough for my old Shop Truck anyway.

Pulled the engine and tranny of my 65 chassis. Removed the windshield and clear everything off the fire wall. Wanted to pressure wash the chassis before tearing it down but I've misplaced a water hose adapter...bummer.

Pulled the steering wheel and ran a new horn wire down the shaft. Also cleaned up the wires in the engine bay and hooked up a new fuel filter and lines.

I hooked up the new tach. Tomorrow I will crank her up and back out on the driveway and let her idle to warm up. Then I'll turn on the heater to see if it all works.

Changed out my lower A-arms and installed coil overs. Now to get that squeak out of the left door then tear her down for paint. Maybe I can get her back by April.

I have a squeak in one of my doors also and have reduced the squeak only temporarily. Ford used some kind white lube, I forget the name. Does anyone know a solution that will work?

Wiped her down (to cold to wash) and since we have been having nice sunny dry days I took her out for an hour long drive. Lots of thumbs-up and smiles!

In fact it is. I found a spray can of it this AM while cleaning out the garage. It would have to be 15 years old. The problem is, there is no spray tube so I can direct the spray to the hinges.
The old stuff we used at the Ford dealership came in a tube. I don't remember how we applied it to the hinges. It's only been 48 years.

Well everyone, I did it again! I found some more parts for my 65 Stepside at the local salvage yard - and CHEAP TOO!. Found a hood - although the one I have is in better shape. Found cowl corners from the same 66. One thing I like is that the PS cowl corner doesn't have the hole for the antenna - so now I won't have to weld my other one shut! Woohoo!!! Also, the other day I bought some new wheels to dress her up. See pics or website.
