I have 6 lug 15" x 8" Rally wheels on my '55 1st series truck. I have stock suspension. I'm planning to lower the truck 3" all around. Looks like I'll have clearance issues with the front tires. If I lower the truck, I'll need to change out the wheels. I want 15" wheels. I like the stock wheels, also the artilley wheels and the smoothie wheels. There are lots of options using original and after market wheels. Looking for some input.

The existing wheels are not yet available for resale. Looking for input for the replacement wheels.

Check out Wheel Vintiques in Colorado

I've had two sets of steel wheels (incl. smoothies) made up there and they do good work.
They'll pretty much much make up any combo you might need and not bad
prices, either.

I don't see where lowering the truck will make any changes that would require a different wheel. If it's done right, lowering should not change any relationship of the wheel to the steering arms. Any clearance issues with the tires would need to be corrected with smaller diameter/narrower tires.

OK seeing your pic of wheel, you have a later model rim which may have a severe offset. You will need to see what she looks like after your lowering job is done, then you can have rims rebuilt to suit or find some that fit. I have a dropped axle under my 46 and factory rims work fine, however did have to heat and bend the steering arms a bit to work.
Good luck

Wheel shops can modify your rims: Paulsen's,Stockton wheel, Wheel Vintiques, Wheel SMiths etc.

The rallys you have now are probably not going to work with the lowering you have in mind. They're too wide and the backspacing is not near deep enough.

Chevs of the '40s has some wheels that you can custom order for backspacing. On a 5" wheel you'd probably want "0" offset (2 1/2" backspacing), but man......they're expensive.

You could use most any stock 15" X 5 or 6" 6-lug truck wheel. From '55 to '60 they have 3 clips for stock hubcaps, '60 and up went to the "nubs" to hold the hubcaps on (these are the ones I'm using).
