I remember reading somewhere on the 'Bolt that the front fenders on larger trucks are bigger than the front fenders on 1/2, 3/4, 1 ton trucks.

Is this so, and if so, what dimensions are bigger?

I went to the local salvage yard and they look the same to my eye.

Not sure what else, but I know the wheel wells are bigger.

Hy chevoldsmoyota, as Rich'sToys said the wheel opening is larger, and the fenders are wider, the hoods on the larger trucks are also different where the hood meets the fender/cowl, hope that helps.

They are taller too. Well at least 47 though 54 is. Where the grill mounts to the fenders in front is about 2in taller. The grill is also 2 inches taller than the smaller trucks.

I have made my 3800 into a 4-wheel drive and the front axle is wider than stock. I was hoping to use a wider fender to cover the tires better, but it sounds like I'd have to replace inner fenders, hood and grille too. . .more than I bargained for.

Thanks for all the replies, guys!

Yea I don't think the big trucks fenders are much if any wider, mainly taller with bigger wheel wells I know for a fact the grill is the same width cause I got half-ton splash bars in my 2 ton, but I had to change the vertical posts to make it tall enough.
If your good at body work you can cut the fenders and make them wider. I've seen guys do this before, take a look in the gallery, I think that's where I saw it.
