For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 205 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 205 | After thinking about this upcoming question of "to cover or not to cover wood" wanted to get a few opinions...the wooden bed costs are high as we know..should I cover the floor with rubber as it was when it came from factory.or show the beautiful wood and stainless?

But it will get scratched when you haul people. Those darn little rocks seem to be stuck in peoples shoes all the time. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | mtvoices,
Do whatever suits your tastes. Your truck is so rare and interesting that just about anything would look nice.
Do you know what was the original covering in 1936 and how it was attached? In Advance-Design Suburbans, the rear floor was one piece of plywood covered with glued-on linoleum.
In 1936, was the rear "bed"/floor of a Suburban the same as in a Panel? Was the rear floor/bed in the Suburban made of wood strips with metal strips in-between? Was the floor covering rubber? Was the floor covering glued on? (inquiring and ignorant minds want to know)
Thanks,

You do have a RARE one and I know you want to stay as close to orignal as possible. However, since you'll probably keep it "forever" I'd think of something that would be nice but yet easy to maintain. As we get older we don't have the pep to spit shine them every week!!
Tim also ask some intersting questions. I'm one of those ignorant minds that want to know.!! | | |
