on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 28 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 28 | So putting everything back together, my parking lights never did work, turn signals ...sometimes. So I ordered new wiring harness, but where it plugs into the fire wall, there is now power. I notice this connection runs to the headlight switch. My headlights work, bright and dim...all fuses are good.
Anyone have trouble with the headlight switch causing this problem? Thanks | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | Parking lights only work on "park" not with the headlights on,(the lights in the hood that is) Scott

But there is no voltage from the turn signal either. I put my voltage meter to the out put, and no power when the head lights are on, or off, or when turn signal is on. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | When you pull your headlight switch out 1 position, that's "park", that's when the park lights in the hood come on. When you pull it all the way out for headlights, the hood lights go out and the headlights come on. That's the factory way, a lot of people rewire them to stay on with the headlights.
You may have a bad headlight switch and possibly a bad ground. I think the switch grounds through itself to the dash if I remember correctly, Scott | | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 321 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 321 | That's correct, Scott, the switch grounds itself to the dash. tmanfarm, the headlight switch should have to distinct positions, like Scott noted. If it is worn to the point that you can no longer feel the first "click" then you should probably replace the switch. Most everything runs through the light switch so if it is iffy then you can have gremlins.
