What were you doing with the body mount brackets?
The pictures go from the rusty frame to the tops of the brackets being clean, and then to the painted frame.

Did you weld on new material or just grind what was there? And did you have the frame media blasted, if so what type?

I have the same tank in my "61" ,it fits the truck frame but not an exact fit for the Burb http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CLP-6366FMT-K/.Issue on my K-10 is the frame height appears to be a little taller than the truck creating an interfearance with the frame rail,I have not made the permanent solution yet .Price was right ,came with sender as well holds 20 gallon

the K10 frame is deeper alright but only in the middle section. it only affects the bottom of the frame, so the fuel tank will protrude up on all model. i have a suburban body on mine; was a k10 panel orig

your frame width is different than a 64-6 also

I'm not sure I agree with the frame height answer ,the truck tank filler neck does not clear the frame on my original K-10 61 Burb ,I do agree with the width difference thou I don't have a frame to compare to.

I have both and the c30 frame is deeper to. I also have one of those. all of mine are 64-66

Hey Ron. As you see, I haven't responded to any of the posts, not because I am avoiding you or anyone else...I have logged over 3,500 miles in the past few weeks delivering and picking up parts & trucks, so I have overlooked replying to questions and comments on this thread. Actually, I don't hit the Panel & Suburban forum, as often as the others, so I spaced it off a bit. Sorry for my punctuality in replying/responding.

Thanks for all the positive comments. I have posted several more photos of the most recent progress.

The tank is the aftermarket kit sold by LMC. We didn't purchase or put it in originally...we removed it and installed it (a bit more workmanlike) after the frame was powder-coated. We slightly modified a few things, but, all-in-all, it was a nice fit-up and worth the time and investment. The aftermarket tanks do not have the scallop in them, to allow for the factory-correct underbed spare tire mount, so keep this in mind, if going this route.

The original body shell was not redeemable, due to the severe rust above the windshield, A-pillars, lower inner skin, etc., so we opted for a donor body shell. The customer hasn't decided on the color scheme, so I am not sure if it will be single-tone or two-tone.

The original frame-to-body perches were rusted out pretty bad, so we cut out the old and welded in new sections & redrilled the openings for the frame-to-body bolts. After media-blasting with Alox (aluminum oxide), we had the entire frame and suspension components powder-coated Matte Black. We went with Grade 8 hardware through-out on the reassembly.
