So how can I tell which is which?

If so, it is probable that you couldn't tell them apart unless you had both side by side. For the most part 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks had the same parts. I have a set out in the garage and I can't find any numbers on mine. They might or might not be originals, I picked them up at a yard sale of all places. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 874 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 874 | The 3/4 ton rear brackets are 2" in height and the 1/2 tons are about a quarter inch or so shorter in height. They are different shapes because of the difference in frame width between the two models. 3/4 ton frame is narrower. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 245 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 245 | Thank you Ghostrider. These measure 1 3/4" across the flat side of the bars so must be 1/2 ton as would be most common. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 | Thank you.
I have a set of rear bumper braces and they do not fit on my 1/2 ton. I was told there is a difference between the 1/2 ton and 3/4-1 ton rear bumper braces. When I brought this up others say bologne.
Thank you

Since the rears are different from 1/2ton to 3/4-1ton does the same go for the front bumper brackets also????joe According to Jim Carter, they are the same: Bumper Braces Front 1947-Early 1955 1/2, 3/4, and 1 Ton | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | Unless I am reading the Master Parts book incorrectly (quite possible), it looks like the 47-53 1/2 ton and 3/4 bumper brackets are the same on the front and the 1-ton is different (7.836). Also, the 1954 front brackets look to be different from earlier front bracket??
