I went to reface my speedo and the needle was seized on pretty good and ofcource I broke the pin. I decided to just get the guts of the speedo new.

Have any of you gotten the speedo unit from either LMC or Classic Chevy Parts? If so were either of them poor quality? Has anyone seen both and can compare?

I was leaning with Classic Chevy because theirs is $109 where LMC is $149. I will reface my other guage with the decals from the same company to match.

I had the same thing happen to me on my '59 project.
I bought a new speedo needle since my original was broken and ended up breaking the pin trying to remove the old needle.
I near fainted at the price of speedo's and only needed the pin.
I went to the parts wanted forum and asked for help and a fellow bolter did just that. Try it. It may save you a small bundle.

I have a '55 1st series. Both the speedometer and the other gauges looked in rough condition. The speedometer did not work. The other gauges did work. Sent them to a guy in Portland Oregon. He rebuilt all my gauges. They look brand new. His price was not as expensive as buying from the usual suppliers. He does good work with a fast turn around. I will give you his phone number. I decided to just buy new. I would like to know if anyone has bought new from either company and has feedback on quality.

I haven't bought any guages from LMC but I have bought a few items for a 1980 Chevy C10. So far everything has fit and has functioned well. I have never gotten the wrong item so I have no idea about their return department.
