Maybe its just old and tired. Most of the parts stores should have a new one for about $25 bucks. I bought one last year for a 66 (?) and it was $26 and worked fine.

A new one might improve it, but the '67 to '72 Heaters sure seem like they are just not as good as the old '60 to '66 systems.

Check the gaskets between the box and firewall, they tend to disintegrate and really diminish what the heater can do.


40 chevy 1.5 ton, 50 chevy 3/4 ton, 67 chevy stepside 1/2 ton, 67 C50, 68 C50, 73 chevy 4x4 3/4 ton, 2004 Silverado 1/2 ton , 2005 HD 3/4 4x4 Duramax (don't even get me started about my Oldsmobiles!)
