I have a Unity spotlight model s6. Im trying to install it on my 57 Chevy 3100. Does anyone have a template? I already went to the Unity website and their kit is over 50 dollars which i'm not ready to pay. Any help is appreciated.

I have one of these on my truck. What type of template is needed? I just remember measure about how far up the pillar to drill and went for it.

Does the template help you with location and angle?

There are a number of brackets that are used with Unity Spotlights there should be a number cast in the back side make sure that the one you have is correct for your model of truck (I have a box of a few new ones). This info used to be found on their site. But any of my calls to them I found them very helpful.

The 50 bucks gets you the proper bracket and drill bushing/guide and template and screws. well worth it IMO if it prevents drilling errant holes. also I needed a short shaft to eliminate interference with hood and or steering wheel.

Well Lou sent me a copy of the template but I see now that who ever installed this spot not only drilled the hole crooked but they didn't have the correct bracket for an AD truck.
Soooo, I ordered the correct bracket, bushing and template kit, two weeks ago. And according to the customer service guy, they are swamped with only two guys to handle that CS, tech lines and it sounds like a bunch of other tasks. Must be some sort of cost cutting deal or something. He couldn't tell me when my kit would be shipped or anything about it, says they aren't set up for that and he has to physically go out and check up on the order. Also says that sometimes it takes 4-6 weeks and that they had to order them so apparently they are having some of their parts made by outside vendors.
Bottom line is, allow your self plenty of lead time when dealing with Unity.

And it arrived today, only problem is the 125 installation kit is for a '61 Plymouth. It took so long to get the kit that I can't remember how I came up with that number or how I ordered it. I don’t think I talked with Unity because it’s hard to get anyone to answer the phone. And I haven’t been able to find any application data on their site.
Looks like I’m going to have to get in the car and drive down to Chicago and stand toe to toe with someone down there.

Well your a big help Chris!!!

One of the boys sent me instructions to find the kit by make and year.
So somewhere along the line the '1' got added to the kit number. It
apparentllly should have been a '25'for the driver side '50, Chevy Pickup.

Not sure exactly what goes on down at Unity Manufacturing but one thing for sure is not
much customer service goes on.
This whole thing started when I ordered a $77 bracket kit on 09/21/2011 and received the
wrong one on 10/07/2011. Monday morning the 10th. I tried to get thru to Unity customer
service and after leaving several recorded messages I finally got to talk to someone
several hours later. The first guy transferred me to another customer service guy who
heard my story and said he would get back to me. I waited till weeks end and on Friday I
hadn't hear anything so I called again, took several hours to get past the recording and
thru to a real person and once again the first guy passed me off to the second guy who
was gonna get back to me. I waited another whole week and on Monday 17th. after
getting a robotic answer till nearly noon finally got to talk to the first guy. The second guy
that was taking care of this was off today but he would have him call me the next day. So
here I am, another weeks passed by, it’s Friday the 21st., and nary a word from “Unity
customer service”.
Since I started on the truck about six years ago I’ve had a few really bad experiences with
vendors but this company is beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst that I’ve had to deal
with.
So I guess at this stage I’ll have to take the day and drive down to the city and physically
walk in to the office and try to get my $77 dollars back because it appears that there is no
way I‘m gonna get an exchange. It’s gonna cost me dang near that
much in time and gas to do that but now it’s gotten to be the principle of the thing.

They kind of got you over the barrel because there were so many of there lights out there
and they are the only source for repair parts. I suppose that’s why they can be so poorly
managed. When you compare the way they run their company to someone like McMaster
who absolutely bends over backwards to give good service to even the smallest customer,
the difference is simply night and day.

That's brutal Denny. I guess that's what happens to allot of big companies when they are the only game in town. They seem to get that "us vs. them" mentality when dealing with customers.

If you get your cash back, try putting an order for the bracket thru chevs of the 40's. I see they offer the unity left or right bracket kits and will now be ordering thru them since I have had great cust service with them in the past.
