Just for cosmetic purposes, I would use the older style round coil. An MSD Blaster 2 makes a good coil. The stock coil isn't quite as hot, but works. For use with an HEI you need to remove the ballast resistor. It's also a good idea to run a new wire for the coil. Go from the ignition side circuit to the coil with a 14 or 12 gauge wire. With the HEI, you don't need the wiring through the starter.
