(clear water) I know the eng. had antifreeze in it. There was a plastic bag over the carb. when I got the eng. I wonder if it may have gotten water down the carb. and one exhaust valve was open. Water entering through an uncovered carburetor would have to go through a open intake valve to reach the cylinder. If this were the case, you would more than likely have several cylinders with water in them. I'm sure as you get into this engine more will be revealed.

Maybe some of the other cylinders are near BDC and actually have water in them, but pulling the plug hasn't opened the dam....what a optimist, right! If the engine set up for awhile with the exhaust valve open it may have come in through there. I would see if the engine rolls over and check the other cylinders. You could pull the push rods out to close the valves and add compressed air to the cylinders, remove the thermostat housing and watch for air bubbles. If you see any it show a bad head gasket, if not than you may get lucky.
