Maybe I didn't search enough, 1hr & no matches, but here is what I've got and all I could figure out. can you provide more info on these numbers?

These might be mismatch parts, they're out of a '55 3/4ton truck with 4sp trans.

F605H (Fb05H) might decode as:

F = Flint, MI plant
6 = May (oops, 6=June)
05 = 5th day
H = 3100 (and 3200, 3600, 3800) regular production engine/truck

I knew I was close to having it decoded but was stumped by the 605 in the F605H stamp.

Is this a full pressure with cam, crank and rod bearing inserts, not babbitt?

That matches with what my code books says. To be a little more specific, it's a '57.

Thanks, Bill, I left that pertinent information out. 1957 it is (indicated by the "H" in the engine serial number).

You may be able to determine mismatched parts based on casting date codes.

Your stamped engine serial number, 605
is the date the engine was assembled.
I'm confused because I thought 6 = June.

Your block casting date code should be located near the 3837004 block casting number. Example - E127.

Your head casting date code is directly across from your head casting number 3835913. Example - D196.

I counted my fingers incorrectly (I have an imdigiment of the right hand).

I've added a correction and a note, above.

Im having the same problem... I just got a 1962 C-10 with a late year 350. I have been trying to decode it via only and I have only got so far. Casting # 3970010 and Block Stamp ID V0131TKK.I think I figured out the stamp as being
V=Flint 01=Jan 31=31st and TKK=car,truck,vette.
The main info I need is year and what it came out of for parts ;/The other two numbers I found on the block are C8S155281 and one that looks like 010 020 114 but Im not sure what kind of codes they are. Any help will do =)

Thanks everyone. This set is semi-apart: head, pan, pump, BH all off. I plan to get a close look at it, might take it if seller will let it go for a C. If it looks OK, I want to slap it back together as a temporary runner (at most short trips of 15mi). Would there be any part from this combo that is more desirable than other year/models? Also, who carries a reasonable gasket set to button this up, NAPA, AZ, Schucks?
