I bought a set of LMC headlight buckets. There are three wires, one yellow, one red and one ground black.
My American auto wire to the headlights show two wires, one Lt. green (high beam) and one tan (low beam).

The question: which wire, red or yellow is the high beam?

Doesn't matter. Wire both lights the same way. Hit the floor dimmer. One way high beams, the other dim.

Brilliant. I was going to google for the standard sealed beam diagram. Wish I had thought of that.

It does matter if you have a wiring harness with a high beam indicator. . . .

Twist them together and test first before crimping /soldering.

1. The wiring kit is a Highway 22 from American Auto wire and works on any model. 51 3600

2. My concern was if my high beam indicator would work.

Wouldn't either way would work but would the high beam indicator show high beam only when the high beam is on?

as the farmer says, all you hafta do is hook a wire from a bulb to power and see which beam lights up ohwell

If it were the origianl 6V wiring system, the 14 ga wire would be the high beam, and the 16 ga wire would be low. The high beams required a heavier wire for the current draw.

The weird thing here is these lights from LMC have three wires, red, grn,&blk. They all are 18 gauge. The wires that came with the wiring kit 12V are 12/14 gauge.

My wiring kit had the unwired headlight plugs and the terminal ends. I had to crimp them myself (don't ask how many times it took me to get them right) If the LMC plugs only have 18ga wires, you might think about getting new terminal ends from an electronics store and putting them on the wiring harness ends and removing the 18ga wires. Any of the halogen sealed beams or stronger are likely to draw enough amps to stress the 18ga wires.

Also on mine (EZWiring) the high beam indicator and hi beam wires were well labeled. Only guessing was which terminal on the headlight was the high beam. Again the answer is test, test and test again.

So Charlie, it looks like from your schematic the top plug or #2 is the "low" beam?
