Possibly someone has modified that oil line on your motor.

1. Put a dab of paint/grease on the fitting that is causing the interference.
2. Bolt it on as best you can finger tight with equal gap all around.
3. Note the gap width as it is equal to the relief needed minus the gasket thickness.
4. Insure you have a bit of paint transfer and you know where to grind.
5. Use a die grinder to gently create a divot and repeat the process a few times until it sits flush. You should still have plenty of wall thickness left but compare the relief required to the overall part thickness before starting.

The fitting behind that bulge stands proud of the block face by about 3/16" IIRC.

Go to a good parts house that carries a supply of brass fittings or a good hardware store with same and check a 45 degree angle fitting that would attach to or screw into the block. The 45 degree angle will allow you to slightly bend the feed tube in toward the block and it will clear the sidecover. I did it with one of my Offenhauser sidecovers and it worked perfectly.
