First off . . hello everyone, Im new here. I'm looking for a few answers about my 51. I have been plugging along pretty well so far but then I ran into an issue. I went to install the door controls and they dont seem to be the right ones . . everything I have seen says 48-54 are the same BUT the channel the connecting rod is supposed to fit in behind the door panel . . is in the wrong place and when I looked at other doors at a friends place . . they arent the same. Was there some doors toward the end of 54 or early 55 that used the 55-59 control?? Looking at pictures I have seen of the controls, they seem like they would work.

Ok, I may be doing something stupid here but this is what I have for a control and what the door I have looks like. I cant help think that I am doing something way wrong here. Here is a link to a pic of what I have.

your pic looks correct for your year truck

in the manual you will notice a spacer glued to the door to keep the panel from rubbing

Boogerdave, just so you won't feel lonely I, just like many others, went through this same exercise. What looked like "commom sense" turns out to not be so.
On my doors one control opened by pulling up and the other the oposite. Found out the left door arm was actually a right door arm.
I wonder if GM did the change for some safety reason? Anyway, your not alone in your quest for excellence!!
