Never run anything less than 15W-40 in my '69 or '90 trucks as this was advise from my local GM mechanic so I feel 30W is fine. Also running lead additive in fuel. Just my 2 cents

Don't make the mistake of putting to thick of motor oil in the engine, with the splash oiling thinner is better than thicker. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | What year truck? What engine (and year)? What transmission/year?
