old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 252 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 252 | I have been looking everywhere and cannot find how to find the description for part numbers that are in the Factory Assembly Manual.
The Master Parts List I found on line does not seem to help unless I am not reading it correctly.
Specifically I was trying to figure what parts 378516 and 3692225 are but, I have lots more I would like to identify.
Thaks
Peter Any help how to find them? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | I looked in my 1929-1953 Master Parts Catalog and could not find either part. What are they? A description would go a long way in helping this process. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 97 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 97 | My answer is based on the parts book for the WW2 15cwt 4x4 C15A dated May 1945. The numbers could have been reassigned but it doesn't seem likely.
"378516 Shim, Front end shell mounting bolt (when stock depleted use 5822721)" - the thickness is not given.
3692225 - no reference found. Now for the guesswork - I think the numbers were assigned in sequence as the parts were developed, not relating to what the part did or where it fit on the truck (but I could be very wrong on this). Having said this, an assembly is likely to have close part numbers because it was designed as a unit but might include earlier part numbers if "stock" parts were used in the design. If this is right, the highest number in the parts book for the C15A is 5831817 so the design of your part must be before 1945. There are numbers in the 368xxxx range in my parts book, but no 369xxxx. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 252 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 252 | The parts attach the radiator to the frame of the truck. One appears to be a carriage bolt and the other is a square shim. I will scan the page and the front of the book and post it. Here is the cover and one of the pages of the manual I was refering to. http://s1130.photobucket.com/albums/m533/peterharbo/Assembly%20manual/Any direction would be appreciated. Try to find a Parts Catalogue for Canadian Trucks. By the way, neither of your part numbers show up in my '42 to '56 Catalouge. Peter On certain models way back when... there were some basic differences between US/Canadian models, that is why I put Canada in the title. I'm not sure when those differences ceased. That and it'll get the attention of all the Canadian 'bolters! -W | | |
