I am wondering if anyone out there has pictures of how the hood latch works on a 37 1/2 ton truck. Mine doesn't work and i want to see what it is suppose to look like.

Should be similar to the car and the '37 car should be similar to a '38 car. I'll check my '38 and snap a pic or two when the heat moderates a bit.

I can snap a couple of photos tomorrow as well. Gotta wait for daylight.

Well, my '37 isn't all fixed up like Alvin's (yeah, where is he?), but hopefully these pics will help out.

This is the passenger side cover. The handle is in the upright position for all of these pics.
This is a close-up of the locking mechanism.
Another close-up showing how the connecting rod is bent around to form a loop.
One more picture for good measure.

I looked in the '37 Shop Manual, and couldn't find anything on it. ... maybe I was in the wrong section, though. Hope this helps.

Good pictures, my '38 car is very similar. The latches should be similar as well.

Front latch in lower front of the opening.
Rear latch.

Are you missing the latches on the cab and core support? With out them, the hoods side have nothing to latch to. What is the problem with yours, won't latch, won't let go, hard to close?

they are hard to close and when I turn the handles they to latch. I have the lathces on the cab and core support but when I look at it they just dont seem to work right

Maybe your hood seem material is to thick not letting the hood set in the correct spot. I will be out in the garage and get you a picture of mine. They look like whats all ready posted, but maybe they will help you.

The latches are adjustable somewhat. Have someone operate the latch on one hood half while you are on the other side of the hood watching the operation. You should be able to easily see the front latch & with a bit of stretching maybe the rear as well.
