i had to move some of my trucks this week, kinda last minute and the only thing that i had together and big enough was my biggest big 'bolt - a 91 chevy skoolie. i know it's off topic, but at least it is pulling my '40 1.5. it's along way back there when backing up to a dead truck.

Question; are you the guy who originated the term " it takes a 40 acre field to turn around? WOW. Thats what I call a lonnnngg hitch length. Those west-coast tractors don't have anything on you.

Great job and a true big bolter.

I'll bet backing that was a real trick.

ha ha, yeah, it is far enough back there that i don't have much for depth perception, i found myself stopping often and going back to see how close i was. the bonus is that the bus has a back door with windows, so once i got the truck in my sights, it was not bad to tweak it in straight to it.
it's 27ft from the back of the drivers seat to the back door, and my trailer has a 22 ft deck on it.
it's got the 8.2 gm diesel non turbo and auto, pretty wimpy, but i didn't notice any difference with a full trailer or none, pulled it just fine.
i have thought about finding a 72 or older c60ish to set on the bus chassis and shortening it up at least a couple feet.

Back when I was dirt track racing, I had ideas of acquiring a retired school bus, moving the back door sheet metal forward about 15 feet or so, and building a set of ramps for the race car. The front end would be converted into a shop area/camper for overnight hauls to tracks out of the immediate area. Freightliner makes a "toy hauler" now for people with more money than brains who can't build their own rig.

I've seen busses set up that way. I know of tractor pullers who have done that.
