My 59 had a plate about 6"x3" with a old rubber boot on the floor when I got it. I would like to keep the rats and hot air out when driving. I tried that rubber doughnut that is avail but saw no way to keep it inplace. and the rats ate it so now just a big air hole. After the rats are dead, usually you would put a little door gasket adhesive to one side of the floor seal to get it to stay put.

A couple mothballs under the truck discourages critters.

The neck is a little tight on the lever, but it works. I've seen other boots for late-model shifters that I think would work too.
