The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts '46 COE body tag location.

I'm going to look at a '46 cab over (Yes, the bug has bitten hard) that is titled in another state. It would cut considerable frustration on my end if the truck is titled with the body numbers, not engine numbers, title number,etc. The gentleman that has the truck doesn't know what numbers are used on the title he has and doesn't sound able to go crawling around looking. Does anybody know where the body tag is? I also assume that the engine number is stamped into the distributor pad, is that correct? I've never messed with a Art Deco truck before. Thanks,

Hey, thanks Jake. I've read through that about a dozen times and never caught that. So does anyone know where "Stamped on plate on rear of dash" is? Driver side, passenger side? I really didn't know that the dash had a rear. I would guess it's inside the cab at least, and it sounds like a stand on your head kind of deal.

My 46 COE has a body tag on the passenger side of the cowl. The VIN doesn't match the tag,but the number on the tag tells the location and date of production if you go to vin buster on this site. Hope this helps.

Scott, is it a GMC or Chevy? That would answer some of your questions more clearly.
