I dabble in a bit of metalshaping, rust repair, painting (mostly rust repair), and general old car stuff. Had a 36 GMC in the shop recently for some fine tuning on the paint job, but will get to that in another thread...

Hi Robert,welcome... by coincidence you live in the "ODSS catchment area".(Old Dominion Stovebolt Society)
Stovevolt HQ is based in Mechanicsville, not sure how that is in relation to you,but I'm sure 'the gang' will let themselves be known before long....
Jock.

MPandC (MaPa&Child) smile

Welcome to the Bolt MPandC. Couldn't resist the little joke there as we use to have a M&P bank everyone called ma&pa.

Nice looking work your doing. You surely have the talent. Glad to have you on the bolt. Lots of knowledge and good folks here. Look forward to seeing you around the garage.

welcome Robert, if you run out of rust repair jobs, you can come up here. Do you have your own truck?

No bolt for me right now. I find it cheaper for me to work on someone elses. grin

I have a 36 GMC I'm trying to get finished up and a 55 Chevy I did a tank relocation on a couple years ago.

Robert,

Indeed welcome! And Howdy neighbor! Is your '36 the truck that's been at Billy Cusic's over the past year or so? If so, I was the source of your new push rods smile And it is a beautiful truck!

As Jock accurately points out, you are about 9 miles from the Stovebolt Media Group publishing empire's International Headquarters. And welcome to the ODSS -- the Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia contingent of 'Bolters. We meet informally pretty regularly. We are trying to get a group together here in a couple of Saturdays to greet Vince when he visits from Milan, Italy (one of our esteemed Eurobolters).

I'd tell you more but it will just be easier to invite myself along on Hambone's visit to your place (whenever that is) and fill you in in person.

Welcome to the site -- we have a great group of folks here who know a lot and are willing to share.

Regards,
John and Peg

The truck actually belongs to a local businessman, but yes, that is the same truck. I was tasked with stepping up the level of detail a bit. He had originally approched me about painting it a couple years ago, and I was elbow deep in a Fairlane (restoration) race car at the time, so he took it elsewhere. There were a few issues with dust in the paint, a bit of orange peel, etc. The green on the fenders came out pretty nice, but the cream/yellow on the body looked a bit too sparing for me to be comfortable doing any buffing. I'd post pictures here but it seems the site only permits links. Would it be out of line to post a link to a thread I have of the truck on another forum? We do have some overheating issues to address, and I have pointed the owner to the relocation kit on ebay. But we still need a new (older?) harmonic balancer to fit the 6 Cylinder (55-57 GM).

Robert,

Not out of line at all to post a link to another Forum. We're not uptight about such things around here.

Check in the Engine Forum about the harmonic balancer -- shouldn't be too hard to get one for you once they tell you which one you need.

Regards,
John

Small world. I even had a welcoming committee this past Saturday when John and Doug stopped by my shop. We looked over Doug's tailgate and I made recommendations for repair, and I showed the guys various metal forming projects I had going on. Doug talked about getting a welder, so then we fired up my Mig welder for a quick down and dirty... And John, I even got the wagon's tailgate primed Sunday... A busy weekend for sure.
