Are all these manifolds the same? I see that Jim Carter catalog has two different part numbers for the intakes differentiating between the 216 part and the 235. Is it just a matter of getting the port adapters?

I've seen a part number from Fenton for a 235 intake but not a 216.

The dilemma lies in that I have a 216 and want to buy this guys Fenton 2x1 and am not sure if it is for a 235 or not.

Does it really matter?

What other problems can I expect when mounting this?

Thanks

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE, BUT I'VE HAD
SOME DIFFICULTY GETTING PARTS FROM JIM CARTER LATELY. EVERY TIME I CALL, SHE SAYS,'' YOU
SHOULD RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN TWO WEEKS.
THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE FEB. YOU MIGHT
CONSIDER USING A DIFFERENT SOURCE OF PARTS

The port size is different between the two as I recall and as you mention the 235 used the rings. Beyond that there may not be much difference and if you can get the manifold to seal up to your head then I'd guess it would work fine. That "if" may be larger than it appears as it so often does.

The ports are different sizes, and both engines use port rings specific to their heads. I have heard of guys making the manifolds work without the rings, but they are crucial to proper manifold alignment with the ports. I'd see if he can get you the port dimensions before you buy to confirm the application.

MainJet,

All 216, 235, and 261 intake manifolds use alignment rings between the intake manifold and the head. There are two different sizes ( look at Jim Carter\'s listing).

Some people say you can get it to work without rings, and some people say they have mixed and matched the older/smaller port piece with the newer/larger port piece. I've never done that and would try to avoid having to do so.

The carburetor mount is also different for pre-54 (216/235) intakes vs 54-62 (235/261) intakes (2.5" vs 3.0" carb mounting hole).
