Compliments of a small wind storm and a dead branch at the top of our 70 ft oak tree.

Bad luck John, I assume no-one was hurt?

I'm sure a man of your talents will knock things back in to shape pretty soon.
It's hard to tell from the pics but is the windshield OK?

No one was hurt and the winshied survived. I glassed it to keep the rain out (This is rainy season and we get rain every day). But somewhere in the future it is going to need a new roof welded on.

Johntsmith,

That smarts! I am over here on the spacecoast and will keep an eye out for a donor roof truck. Also have family in Lake and Marion County, I will let them know to keep an eye out. With a little look we might run across a cab with the doors and rocker rotted out and good roof.

Mother nature can play a lot of games. Recently we had an honest-to-God golf ball sized hail storm, dented the crap out of our Mazda. My '89 Bolt was parked next to it with no damage!!! (Fortunately my '40 was in the barn. But, I doubt it would have been damaged!)

It is amazing that it actually ripped out that portion without damaging the whole roof. I am guessing that whatever hit it was moving really quickly.

johntsmith -

Mom Nature coulda just hit your truck in a flat panel - but no, she had to smack you where it really hurts. Sorry for your rotten luck.

I was a little luckier during Hurricane Charley in 2004. The house was crushed, but the truck was spared!

Welcome to Florida in the summertime.

John -- That can be a real blow. For some encouragement, go check out Larry Canterbury's ordeal with an Oak tree It's amazing how much you can do. BTW, Larry's truck has been completely rebuilt and his new shop is to die for. So up yours, Mother Nature!

John

I was going to say sorry and that I'm thankful for my garage.
Then I saw Larry Canterbury's ordeal with an oak tree, I felt bad again.
Then I was happy to remember there are no trees anywhere near my garage.
Then I realized I'm on an airport landing approach so I can't call myself safe.

You never know...
