So I knew I wanted blue. I went round and round about what shade. I started at turquoise, then went to light, then to darker, then to aqua. I noticed every shade of blue around me. I started to hate the color blue. Then at some point, I just wanted it done. So I picked a color and went with it. I have to admit that at first I didn't like it. But it's growing on me. It sure isn't subtle. smile But it's done, and I'm very happy about that.

You can see pics of it here:

Hey, it looks great. Drive it and enjoy it. Besides its YOURS. Folks told me that the orange color I picked for my panel wouldn't look good..... I simply told them "its mine"!

I'm diggin' it! Hey, what did you do on the front? Two-tone the grill and front, chrome, or all the same? pix

My '61 will be painted before the summer is out, and I just can't decide what I want the color scheme to look like. I do really like the two-tone, though. grin

Thanks for posting!

If you go to the above link and scroll down, there are lots of pics and several of the front. I really like the way I chose to do it.

Yeah, I really don't care for those wheels. I mean, they could be worse.. but I would like to change them eventually. When funds allow. I do want something more stockish. I love painted wheels with half-moons.

Awesome color and it looks like it was a top notch paint job.

I even like the wagon wheel rims. It all seems meant to be.

Thanks! We'll chock that one up to "operator error". smile It's a beautiful truck!! Funny thing, I have the exact same rims on my truck. Must've been running a special on 'em. LOL

Love the grill, it makes the gmc grill look less obtrusive.
I am just getting ready to paint my 66 gmc , the truck is done just waiting on decision to paint the grill. I chose to paint the interior the original medium fawn metalic and had never seen anyone paint the grill and the gmc logo that color so right now that is what I am going to do. If we do not like it we might try what your did, it sure looks nice. My truck was the same blue yours is but I chose to go with a slightly subdued greeen color. It will be put back together from painting this week. Take a look if you like......

original color (just painted when I bought it but a really bad job)

I love your truck it looks great...........I do not know what you did for power in your ride but I have a few odds and ends left over 250 inline, 3 speed, shifter parts if you need any holler I ship them to you. Kieth

Nice pics, the green looks great! I thought about keeping the fawn inside, but the guy gave me a great deal on the interior paint, and I had to go with it!
I have a 305v6 in it. It's funny, it ran great when I got it, but it looked so bad on the outside everyone would always ask "does it run?". haha. The only parts I am looking to get is a small plain rear bumper. The one I have is massive, and it looks even bigger white. (oops)

That's real nice, you did a great job. I have a 1963 gmc, you gave me lots of incentive to go forward on the restortion of my truck, thanks!

Yep, it really helps me to look at other's progress and finished results to keep me going on my trucks, too. That's another great thing about this site. Besides the obvious wealth of knowledge and comradery.

Man both of those GMCs look incredible, the blue one and the green one. GREAT job guys! My mind is now reeling as to what colour to paint my 61 Chevy when the time comes, ha ha!

I can tell you this, I now can walk into a room and tell you how many different shades of blue there are in it. hint: there are between 60 and 200 in every room. smile My point is that if you don't know exactly what you want you'll go crazy looking at colors. Everything looks great and terrible at the same time.

And paint chips are very deceiving. I was worried about my paint coming out too dark based on the paint chip. If you aren't sure, get a small amount of paint and shoot it on something to see how it comes out. That was great advice that I got from someone and I totally ignored it because I was impatient. smile
