Need to know the best way to lower my '65 1/2 ton long bed with all '76 donor front and rear...has disc brakes. Want to lower it as far as possible without C-notch. Would like to know all options. Thanks in advance.

Well, c notching the rear is the only way to lower it as far as you want. really I believe in air bags on all 4 corners is the easiest. You will sacrifice ride when trying to keep it low for street use.

is your 65 leaf springs or coil?

If coil, you know you will have to convert the 76 rearend to coil, right?

I did mine with dropped 2.5" spindle with 1.5" dropped springs on front and air bags on the rear with an adj panhard bar, rear shock re-locator kit. I did the bags because I may want to tow some day.

Oh btw, if you havent already, replace all the bushings and such when your doing the drop, makes for a more satisfying result when your done.

Most suspension retailers will tell you 5" is about as low as you want to go without the notch. The bags will give you about 3-5" drop or so.

Why any fear on notching? Take the box off and go to it. It really is a simple job and the portion behind the axle really doesn't support much. You can even get bolt in kits now. The extra clearance is worth the effort.
