The vin # is 6fsh2035 which tell me it is 1 ton but not the size of the engine. I can't find anything on the motor or pan. There is B50 B48 B50 E218 stamped on the motor but not sure what they or for. Also New Mexico #13--Rod 030--Main 010 on the stamped plate. Did they just use the 216 in 1948 1 ton. One other thing is where did they have the license plate. I hate to drill into the door if that is not where it should be. I am trying to keep original as I can. Is the valve cover held on by two bolts that come through the top of the valve cover or by screws around the lip of the valve cover?
I don't have anything to run the numbers but I suggest you post this inquiry in the Engine and Driveline forum. Not everyone visits here in the welcome center.

The VIN Buster did decode your truck as Serial # : 6FSH2035 Mfg Date : August,1948 Model : 1 ton Wheelbase : 137 inches Plant : Oakland, Block casting number, raised numbers found at the upper right of the starter, if you post this # we can tell you more about your engine... The E218 = May 21 48 if it is a 216 ... A 216 will have two studs coming out of the top of your valve cover...

The rised #s found by the starter are what looks like
B50 B48 and B50 i think.

The engine has 4 screws holding down the cover. Thanks again and I will inquire in the Engine and Driveline forum. Thank again and would love to have mine look half as good as yours. Find the Engine Cast # like this one and post it in the Engine Forum and we will be able to tell what engine you have... Many of these old trucks have replacement engines in them... Heck mine is one its third one!!!
