I bought my 62 without a front driveshaft and am searching for one. Trying to just get the front shaft length (51") correct, I can get the ends to match the K5 and the Rockwell transfer case, but I'm running out of places to find the shaft. Can I use a rear driveshaft on the front, if I get the length right? or? The book says the K5 front shaft is 16", so that isn't gonna work, so not sure where to find/what to look for.
Working on 62 4x4 C10 I traded for, replaced axles, now on steering column and brakes.

Many driveshaft shops offer this service and you can have one made, specific to your application. I found a driveline shop, near my shop, that custom-fabricate them, to your specifications.

The guy at the driveshaft shop told me to measure from the seal on my trans to the flat of the rear end flange. He was able to determine the correct length from there, allowing for travel. Any driveshaft/universal shop should be able to make one for you. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 15 | The 90 K5 came with around a 30" or so front shaft, but it would have had a Saginaw 3R CV at the transfer case end. You are destined to visit a driveshaft shop. If you find something that bolts right in, go buy a lottery ticket!
