It isn't as bright as the chrome but if you need to rework it with a file you can buff it back up to a shine.
All of the chrome ones I've seen have very rough unfinished edges and once the chrome plating is on, it's to late to change it.

I and some other bolters have bought at least 6 in the last 4-5 months.
