I need to replace my split rims, but these ones had something I didn't know about.
They were eight bolts, but every other hole had a crown on one side. The others had a crown on the other side.
What is that all about? And can one of those be used as a front wheel and what kind of lug nuts would you use?

#75833 04/02/2007 6:06 AM | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 513 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 513 | what were the wheels on? as long as you get a set of chevy, i don't thinks it should be a problem, one thing to think of it to see how wide your tires are now, and you may not want to go much wider, because they could rub. i am in kansas city also, what yard were you at? if you don 't mind driving your truck to the yard, get the wheels, and test them make sure they fit over the drums, and clear things before you buy them. most yards will let you do something like that. i was at a farm auction this weekend and the sold dual rim sets, i don't think they brought 25.00 for the set, but look around at different yards, i was going to put duals on my 49, and some yards wanted 50.00 a rim, and others 25.00 a rim

That would help with the problem of the wheels rusting on the face area. I don't know this to be the case but it seems logical to me. | | |

They still fit flush up against each other. There is a recess in the drum also to acomodat them. That why you cannot use them on a Chev. They must be put on correctly with the valve stems opposite each other.

I bought 6 rims and tires for my 64 C-30 Stake at a junk yard here in Las Vegas. They were on a wreck 84 or 85 1 ton chevy dually pickup. They worked just fine.Had to pay $350 for the 6 of them but the tires have at least 80% tread.
You will not believe the difference in handling and ride after you make the change to radial tires. | | |
