on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 35 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 35 | I am restoring a 54 3/4 ton chevy truck, frame up. My question is should I replace the clutch disk? Everything is apart so it will never be easier. The old one seams good but having never seen one before I really don't know. I will replace the throw-out bearing. Appreciate your advice.

Replace the entire clutch assembly. It should be around $200, and is well worth it for piece of mind. Keep the old assembly if you like. Now would also be a good time to have the flywheel resurfaced. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | If you drove it before you tore it down & it worked good I would take a hard look at it.If the lining is about 1/16 above the rivets, the springs in the disc are snug, 7 the fingers are even on the pressure plate I would reuse it. If you didn't drive it I would replace it. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | |
