Hi, my name is Bruce and I have a problem. I was working on my brake backing plates today. While blasting them in my cabinet I was getting bored and my lower back was hurting. I got the outside done then flipped it over. Looking at the inside I thought, "Why waste the time and materials blasting the inside? Nobody will ever see it." Well I ended up blasting the inside cause I knew I would never be happy knowing the inside was rusty. Anybody else out there as anal as I appear to be?

Bruce

I figure if I don't take the time to do it right the first time I'll never have time to re do it. So yes, I tend to overdo things at times.

I'm with Cletic on this on....yeah, I like to do it once and do it right. But sometimes what I think is the RIGHT way sometimes turns out that it wasn't. In that case I call it "live and learn.

I'm changeing the center bearing on the '66 today and know that once the driveshaft is out I'll replace all the u-joints whether they need it or not - just cause it's out.

My grandfather always said, "anything worth doing is worth doing right"! Right is what is right in your own mind. I agree with y'all, knowing that rust is back there would bother me too. KILL THE RUST, KILL THE RUST, KILL THE RUST!!! There, I feel better already.

I'm picky too. But some times it can't be perfect, well factory perfect. Like trying to straighten panels with panels behind them. And if you don't have shop space or live in the right area to do some things the way you would like to, sometimes you have to do the best you can.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

I have had my 37 for 33 years. I have done almost everything on the truck two times. The first time I did it right.....I thought. The second time I'm doing it "righter". I'm almost finished with the second time and soon, I'll be working on the third time!

I have the the same problem, start one project that should take a few hours and then I end up with 10 more projects because........As long as I'm this close I might as well go a bit deeper. To think we enjoy this punishment we bring upon ourselves. Don

Hello 55 1st,
You will be very happy with the results of your work. People in my neighborhood would stop by over the 3 years it took me to get the truck done. They were amazed at the detail of the truck. One person even called me an artist! So take all the time you want to get it right!

The only thing I hate as much as rust is something that leaks!
