Hello, I found this "NEW" radiator for a 1948 to 1954 Chevy Truck. The guy wants $200 for it. Will it fit my 1941 Chevy 1.5 ton? Some modification is acceptable. thanx, fletch

Take a look at this U.S. Radiator link. http://www.usradiator.com/radiators/chevrolet.html?cat=630
U.S. Radiator shows 1941-46 radiators to be 22 1/2" by 17 1/2"(core). 1948-54 radiators to be 20 1/4" x 19 3/4"(number of different cores with slight differences in size). Does not sound like a close fit.

aw well. what is the cheapest source for radiators? i've seen them from $400, all the way up to $950. i'm doing this restoration on a shoe string budget. but, i don't know that i will get rid of this truck any time soon.

thanx

Had my 1939 (Same core as 1941-46) rebuilt. Not cheap, $500. U.S Radiators appears to be one of the few to manufacture new. I found a dealer locally that would order U.S. Radiator for about $60 less then cost of rebuilt. Went with rebuilt to keep the old tank and look.

USradiators makes a lot of the ones we buy from other folks. One of the guys from USRadiators did a nice write up on what they do and yes, made in USA. I bought a desert cooler 4row from JCarters and it was actually made by USR. Maybe someone made a link to his write up? Its well worth reading.

EDIT: this is not the post I was looking for but there is a ton of good reading on their site

Here's that thread Alvin, all 5 pages of it. That guy from US Radiator that was responding was actually a gal. She’s the daughter of the owners of US Radiator and was very helpful and sincere about supplying a good product. Her part of the business is the "Desert Cooler" section of US Radiator, which from what I gather is the marketing side of the company . The shipping invoice on my radiator was from Desert Cooler. Both US Radiator and Desert Cooler are at the same address in California.
The radiator was a bit lighter than the original one and I questioned that. I was told that it was because of the newer tube layout but is supposed to be just as efficient as the old one. A very good looking replacement, similar but not exactly the same as the original. You wouldn’t notice the difference unless you were looking for it.
