For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2011 Posts: 91 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2011 Posts: 91 | Hello, I found this "NEW" radiator for a 1948 to 1954 Chevy Truck. The guy wants $200 for it. Will it fit my 1941 Chevy 1.5 ton? Some modification is acceptable. thanx, fletch | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 145 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 145 | fletch I have both a 46 3/4 ton and a 54 1/2 . I'll check the rads this weekend to see how close they are. Does not sound like a close fit.

U.S Radiators appears to be one of the few to manufacture new. I found a dealer locally that would order U.S. Radiator for about $60 less then cost of rebuilt. Went with rebuilt to keep the old tank and look. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | USradiators makes a lot of the ones we buy from other folks. One of the guys from USRadiators did a nice write up on what they do and yes, made in USA. I bought a desert cooler 4row from JCarters and it was actually made by USR. Maybe someone made a link to his write up? Its well worth reading. EDIT: this is not the post I was looking for but there is a ton of good reading on their site http://www.usradiator.com/

That guy from US Radiator that was responding was actually a gal. She’s the daughter of the owners of US Radiator and was very helpful and sincere about supplying a good product. Her part of the business is the "Desert Cooler" section of US Radiator, which from what I gather is the marketing side of the company . The shipping invoice on my radiator was from Desert Cooler. Both US Radiator and Desert Cooler are at the same address in California. The radiator was a bit lighter than the original one and I questioned that. I was told that it was because of the newer tube layout but is supposed to be just as efficient as the old one. A very good looking replacement, similar but not exactly the same as the original. You wouldn’t notice the difference unless you were looking for it. DG
