... Last year I did some painting. I put on what I thought was enough paint, sprayed the clearcoat and buffed it out with liquid ice. The primer in some areas show. What prep work do I need to do to continue with the painting. I want to put on a few more coats and shoot more clear. Thanks in advance. It is urathane. Thanks...

liquid ice?? would that be water? ... or the energy drink .... or the machine tool lubricant?
I'd say if you don't have enough color under the clear coat, the clear coat needs to come off

I have made that mistake (along with every other possible painting issue). I am no expert but the painting "demonstrator" that work out of the PPG shop said for solid colors you could sand the clear with 800-1000 and shoot more base and then reclear. He said with metallics the clear should be removed. I am using a solid color and that system worked great for me.

Thanks Bill and Chuck. Off comes the clear coat. I wonder if I buffed most of it off anyway. A sanding we will go.

If you have primer showing you've buffed through the clear coat and color coat. I'm no paint pro but if were going to buff I'd certainly wet sand with 800 grit to knock off any irregularities first.
