on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 51 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 51 | I have a '64 GMC longbed stepside, and I just ordered my bed wood (pine) from Mar-K. I've seen their test results, and am going to paint it. I'm wondering who has done this and how much paint it takes. The POR-15 rust preventive paint is rather expensive and I want to make sure I have enough without having a ton left over. And I'll probably have to order it online, not sure where to get it locally.

Colour code# S-H-790, Black Suede. The colour is a nice satin black.

I saw the Mar-K test results, but black just won't look right with the color of my truck. They had a large section of paint cards in many colours. I picked my colour and took the card for my log book.

I wasn't sure if it would actually be silver or just a lighter gray.. but it has a silver look to it. I'm going to do gray paint, and I wanted a not-too-similar primer. So I took a chance with the silver. I really only want to do the bed once, and it was (only) $40 a quart, which is all I should need.
