Does anyone know if whitewalls would have been available originally on a '37 Chevy 1/2 ton?

Also, I've seen postings regarding "fake whitewalls" that fit between the rim and the bead; anyone have any pics or recommended sources?

I can't answer your specific question but "way back when" there was a whitewall paint ...and I do know there were "porter walls" but not sure of the year they came out. I used them back in the early 60's....

whitewalls were a result of the fact that early rubber "naturally" came out white, and carbon black was added to the tread for better traction, ALL early tires were 'whitewalled' wink they were common in the early days, then not so popular .... they were available on 30's cars and it's possible someone might have put whitewall tires on a 37 truck, but I'd doubt the factory offered them, and they certainly weren't standard

Porta-walls are still available if you have bias tires, they don't work well on radials

I have wide white walls on my 37 1/2 ton Chevy truck. Don't know for sure if they could be put on in 37, but my bet is that they could.

A dealer or an owner might have put whitewall tires on a 37 truck. It does not look like they were a factory option on (1937 Chevrolet car & truck tires).

I've read over at the VCCA site that whitewalls were not available from the factory in the '30s. They were install by the dealers.
