Can they be made to interchange? My trans is an 87 700R4 TBI set up on the engine but I may buy a motor from the early 70s or late 60s. I know it will bolt up but the flexplate is the problem or question. I have one from a TBI 350 in excellent shape. Will that work for an older 250/292? Can it be drilled to fit or is this a bad idea? #74380 03/07/2007 6:20 AM | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Henry G, To start with the newest listing for a 250 inline six in my flywheel interchange is 1979, from 71-79 they only used two flywheels on 250s one with an O.D. of 14.13", and one with an O.D. of 12.85". The flywheel used after 85 on the V8s seem to be different, they are the two different diameters listed above, but are listed as having weights. So as long as you have the right diameter for your starter both the older flywheels appear to have both converter bolt patterns, hope that helps. | | |

That would be about 14.125. Hmmmm, the one you mentioned is 14.13. Should fit I would think. 1/100th of an inch should be no problem. Not sure how many teeth. A lot for sure. It does have the weight on the engine side of the plate. Will that cause a vibration problem? Thanks again up there in BC. H. | | |

I'll have to go down there and check some of this out. I had an 84 with a 250 integral manifold. Would one of those work? I want an older one to put in my truck. I didn't care for the integral set up. It ran ok but not great. Kinda so, so. Henry | | |
