| | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 152 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 152 | I have a 49 chevy 1-ton truck, I have rebuilt the Huck wheel cylinders, Had the shoes relined, And drums resurfaced, When my shop was cool, I adjusted the brakes, After I get the temp. of my shop to 75 degrees the brakes lock up. Is this a vent problem?

Sounds to me that there's just enough heat expansion going on the cause the bind.
Try backing them off a tad and see what happens.

I finally had to bevel the ends of the brake shoes.(the lining)I noticed after that, that most of the replacement shoes already had a slight bevel on the ends, but not neccesarily. The best I could figure the shoes were slightly bigger than the drum and just stuck in drum, after they ran awhile and got worn to the same profile as the drum it was fine. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | I had problems with brakes like this before, drove me nuts. I finally had to bevel the ends of the brake shoes.(the lining) This is something I used to do on all my VWs. It also stops the new shoes 'grabbing' the drum. I think it's just good practice to do. Especially important on something as light in the front as a VW Bug!
