Has anyone swapped out an inline 6 for a v8 in classic truck? Does this require extensive mods? Do you need to modify inner fender wells?
I have a 1952 3100. I'm contemplating my future plans on the truck....
Do something! Even if it's wrong!

No you really wouldn't have any issues with the inner fender walls. It isn't just a bolt-in type of deal. There is some exstensive work involved. Oh, and a little bit of cash too. | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | There has been many of them done. The biggest problem is interference with the steering gear. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. It's not strong enough to handle a truck, Camaro or Nova would be better, even the I beam can be done, though there are fit issues with the steering box as mentioned. I have heard of guys using a Toyota truck steering box to clear, plus get power steering in the bargain.

The 400 engine's exhaust manifold is very tight to the stock steering. Where did you pick up your "nolimit" kit? And what kind of steering column did you use? thanks | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 33 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 33 | I got the nolimits rackand pinion from nolimit.net just google it. a bought a tilt colum from cpp.

I used the stock suspension and just a crossmember conversion from Speedway Motors. I also still use the stock steering gear. In order to gain the room for it, I turned a pair of shorty headers upside down and still had to space the steering gear out about an inch.
Everything works fine, but I do need to get rid of that stock steering gear.
