What are the differences on a 1 large cylinder or 2 smaller ones to lift the bed Which is preferred and who installed them? The factory or someone else as an aftermarket.

Could a hoist from a smaller bed be put on one that has a longer bed? Meaning I know it is possible but practical.

This should probably be moved to the Big Bolts forum.

But to answer your question, most of them were aftermarket items. As to the different styles, I'm sure it was pretty much the same as everything else--different manufacturers tried different things, some of which worked better than others.

There are several hoist experts here. I'm sure they will jump in with more info.

If you will give me the body length and CA (cab to axle) dimension I can tell you what will work and what won't. Do you currently have a hoist? If so what is it?
