One of the synchros is built into a gear and that one is typically not real worn unless its had some serious grunt done to it. I was always taught if your gonna replace one bearing replace them all. You can get the complete set, (all bearings, needle bearings, gaskets, including 2 synchros, etc...) for less then 200$.
Its kinda funny cause I just tore one down last night!

You certainly want to put the front drive brg. in if you o-haul it. That one usually goes first. If it makes more noise than usual in the lower gears & is quiet in high it is a good indication the front drive gear bearing is bad.

I pulled mine apart in a few hours time and the only tools I needed were a handful of sockets, hammer, gear puller, punches, snap ring pliers and a punch. Youll feel pretty good about doing it yourself if you feel up to it!
