My 57 3100 is in need of some door weather stripping and window/vent felts. Basically, everything to keep the rain out of the doors & cab.

I've heard/read that some stuff is too wide or isn't made quite right.

Looking for advice on what vendors will send what I need and have it fit right, etc.

the best door rubber comes from Steele Rubber, many vendors [maybe most] carry Steele products, ask when you order or order direct from Steele - I think the felts are all the same from any vendor .... I've had good luck with Jim Carter

I'll second sqeezes' comments on Steeles.....much better quality than other options. You can order direct from Steeles.

I have used MANY many rubber parts from Steele and for the most part been a happy camper.

BUT, I will share this with you and its not to take away from Steele in any way. Just this past year I ordered my wing vent rubber stuff from another vendor but at the last minute decided to get the real deal. The "other vendor" was less than $25 and Steele was three times as much at $72 and I actually drove up there and got them.

That said, I know for a fact that some of Steeles products come from and are made by Dennis Carpenter who is a vendor mainly for Ferd products there in Charlote.
As all vendors do, I'm sure Dennis gets some of his stuff from Steele. Probably depends on who has what die.

Now, just in the past month I purchased a windshiedl gasket from Steele for my 37. I was a little disappointed when I got it. In reality, I actually stated to use my 10 year old one that came from JimCarter in 2000. Back then it may have even come from Steele but TODAY there is a difference. The OLD one had a little wider "lip" that goes lays against the windshield than the new one. And the old one was still just as flexible, believe it or not, as the new one!! Go figure.

Nevertheless, I will continue, I think, to buy from Steele unless someone has first hand experience on an item....and as Squeeze said, ASK when you buy. These guys do wheeling and dealing, swapping and hopping all the time.

I might also add that I tried to get the marketing manage to get with John/Peggy about a possible discount for Stovebolters but nothing was ever done.
...but they are still have good products.

any one have dealings with the truckandcarshop? in orange, ca? or the fillin station in or?
i realize that a lot of the classic parts vendors use the same suppliers and unless you ask there is no way of knowing exactly where the parts are manufactured

There are a few manufacturers of rubber products (Steele, Metro Moulding, etc.). The various vendors buy from who gives them the best price. I've been happier with the parts from Steele. I've had better luck with the Steele customer service than from the vendors. Kind of like getting the info "from the horses mouth" kind of thing.
