For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 | I really can't say enough about power tool safety! Those of us who work around machinery need to remind our nonprofessional brothers and sisters about just how dangerous some of these simple tools can be. June 28 2008 I was working on a trailer deck with the "deadly lock on - lock off 4 1/2"" grinder when there was a "bang" and it went straight up in the air. I didn't know what had happened until it came down across my leg, hit the trailer and started up again. I was doing everything I could to get out of its way, unplug it, and hold the two bloody flaps of leg muscle together. There is a lot more to the story, but the EMTs (Thanks Guys) came and rushed me to emergency surgery where I was sewed up and told by the Doc to leave the "Derm Abraison" to him.
So, BE CAREFUL! I've worked with machinery for 50 years and have taught safety procedures, and I screwed up. The tools don't hurt us, our use of them does, so WATCH IT, ok! I still don't know for certain what happened in my case, but the result was almost 40 stitches and 6 weeks recovery!
Play safe and work safe,
Les

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

I see it happen at work and power tools are not known to forgive an error. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Spring safety reminder...good topic This is a also a good time to inspect your fire extinguisher. I keep my hanging on the wall in the garage I use the time change as a reminder to inspect my extinguisher. I think Jock had an incident recently as well. Be safe. | | |
